 A successful Design Manager candidate will: 

  • Be responsible for the project management of all design work and supervision of the Design Department
  • Oversee all aspects of the design layout, field checking, material equipment submittals, hydraulic calculations, applicable installation requirements, and close out procedures performed by the Layout Technicians
  • Ensure compliance with NFPA standards
  • Ensure delivery of quality service to the customer while maintaining scope of the company's obligations as defined by the contract and/or approved change order
  • Ensure all department personnel follow all site-specific and company safety standards while on job-sites. 

The qualifications for the Design Manager include:

  • 7 to 10 years of experience in fire protection
  • Prior management experience
  • NICET Level II certification
  • Understanding of NFPA and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction requirements
  • Ability to interpret architect drawings/specifications
  • Proficient in Windows-based CAD, AutoCAD design software or other fire protection design software
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and spatial orientation aptitude and skills
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, MS Word and Excel
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with attention to detail
  • Strong negotiation and problem resolution skills
