This position is responsible for the overall management of Low Voltage department or district.  Create, maintain and develop client base to meet mutually established goals with P& L reporting to senior management. Generate new business, quote on contract opportunities, and negotiate contracts.  Make decisions regarding hiring, disciplinary action and termination of staff.  Ensure occurrence of and adherence to all safety and training programs.


  • Minimum of 10 years professional work experience in fire alarm, electronic security, structured cabling, audio/visual, nurse call, or related field to include prior management experience.
  • Associate or Bachelor degree in business or related field is preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical wiring, NEC and other related NFPA codes, BOCA. IBC, IFC, BICSI, and the State Amendments as they may apply, as well as ADA and AHJ requirements.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and skills in management, inventory, budgeting, scheduling, and contract negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability to interact and communicate with both internal and external customers in a positive and professional manner.
  • Conflict resolution, organizational and analytical skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate best possible pricing and discounts with local vendor and suppliers.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret construction drawings and job specific specifications.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) is required.



  • Work with clients to ensure that all circumstances involving disagreements as to scope, method of handling on-site conditions, and/or other client dissatisfaction is handled tactfully and with patience and integrity.
  • Contact clients as needed to discuss and resolve delinquent payment issues.
  • Visit sites as necessary to check on progress of work and fulfillment of contractual commitments.


  • Monitor the activity, productivity and accuracy of supervisors and employees.
  • Schedule and direct staff on daily job assignments as needed.
  • Train, coach and assist in developing employees.
  • Assist with providing in-service training for staff and support training and testing for staff certifications.
  • Review and reinforce standard operating procedures with employees.  Address workplace behaviors that raise risk of job-site liability or property damage.
  • Evaluate and discuss with employees their progress to include strengths and weaknesses to assist them with their professional growth and meeting of professional goals.


  • Meet with current client base to maintain business relationships and promote new business through value added offerings.  Follow up on leads, cultivate new contacts, implement specific marketing strategies, and/or expand other related services and offerings.
  • Prepare proposals and estimates for new and established customers.
  • Plan and monitor job costs and profitability of contracted alarm work to meet department goals.
  • Create new business opportunities by building relationships with contractors and engineers.


  • Ensure that all site-specific and company safety standards are followed.
  • Ensure that all accidents and injuries are reported as they occur.
  • Ensure that employees with company vehicles follow all company driving regulations and truck maintenance protocol.


  • Mobility required for in-person visits with clients.
  • Capable of using ladders, lifts and scaffolding when necessary to view work, as well as ability to enter confined spaces, attics, basements, and crawl spaces.
  • Visual acuity required for reading documents, meters and drawings.
  • Clear speaking voice for phone interaction.
  • Auditory acuity for face to face interaction with staff, clients and AHJ's.
  • Digital dexterity for PC use.
  • Must possess valid driver's license for use of company vehicle.
  • Must pass drug test and security screening as needed.


  • Work performed in variety of office, commercial and industrial sites which may include hard-hat, safety shoes eye and hearing protection.
  • Work primarily with low voltage electrical current; however, licensed electricians may also be required to work with higher voltages.
  • May work in confined, underground or crawl spaces.
  • May work with HAZCOM materials.
  • Uses variety of hand tools for wire and equipment installation and may operate electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic equipment using safety equipment and safety procedures.
  • Tasks may include lifting and moving equipment.
  • May occasionally work 6 feet or more above ground level using ladders and lifts.
  • On job sites, must remain alert to job-site hazards and safety requirements.
